I'm a mama to 3 wild little boys, wife, birth & postpartum doula, childbirth educator, obsessed-with-birth nerd, holistic health enthusiast and lover of people and community!

The journey that led me to start Selah Vie Doula Care began with my own experience of birth. I’ve always had a deep passion for birth, but it wasn’t until I gave birth to my first son—at home, in my own space, feeling powerful and supported—that I truly understood how beautiful and sacred birth can be.

That experience lit a fire in me.

I knew I wanted other women to feel this kind of empowerment, to know that birth doesn’t have to be something fearful or traumatic, but instead a beautiful, life-changing moment that they can own.

That desire to change the narrative around birth led me to immerse myself in training and education. Over time, as I’ve journeyed through my own motherhood, this passion has only grown. I’ve seen firsthand how important it is for women to feel supported, not just during birth but at every stage of their motherhood journey—whether it’s preparing for their first baby or finding balance with baby number four.
My heart is to walk alongside mothers, offering holistic support that honours where they’re at and what they need most. I believe deeply that every woman deserves to experience motherhood in a way that’s peaceful, powerful, and fully her own.

Think of me as your personal coach,
motherlike mentor & older sister-like
figure here to reassure and cheer
you on in your journey, while guiding
and teaching you along the way,
empowering you to birth and parent
the way you know best.

If I’m not chasing my busy little boys and if I don’t have my nose stuck in a birth/baby-related book, you might find me out for a run on the trails, doing some sort of work on or around our home in the country, or trying out a new recipe in the kitchen. I've called Brantford (and now Mount Pleasant!) home for the past 15 years.

About Selah Vie:
Selah (pronounced say-luh) is a Hebrew word that occurs frequently at the end of verses in biblical poetry and psalms meaning to pause, rest and reflect on what was just said. To us, it is a term of peace – something that is needed in pregnancy, labour, delivery and beyond, into parenthood, and is something we carry well.
We believe pregnancy, birth and postpartum periods are sacred spaces, invitations to communing more deeply with God and experiencing Selah (divine moments of pause and reflection).
As your care team, our goal is to make space for each mother and family to have those moments of rest and reflection. Because birth, like life, is a rhythmic flow of intensity and rest.
Selah Vie is a play on the French term “C’est La Vie!” meaning “That’s life!”
Birth, postpartum and beyond is both beautiful and messy, full of highs and lows, and moments of intensity and reprieve - and hey, that’s life!

Meet Abby.
(Birth & Postpartum Doula & Childbirth Educator)
Abby is a doula with a particular passion for childbirth education. Helping families feel well-informed and confident going into their birth experience is something that lights her up.
As well as providing birth and postpartum support, she teaches 1 on 1 prenatal classes in-person locally and virtually to anyone with internet access. As a passionate follower of Jesus, Abby also delights in discussing the beauty of God’s design for childbirth and loves supporting Christian women as they prepare their hearts, as well as their bodies and minds, for birth and motherhood.
Abby lives with her husband Ben and their two little girls in Brantford, Ontario where they are often found exploring somewhere in nature as a family or jamming out on the fiddle and piano.

We offer something unique—a space where peace, presence, and reflection are woven into the heart of the birth experience.

The name "Selah Vie" carries this intention beautifully. "Selah," a biblical term, invites us to pause and reflect, and "Vie," a play on words from the French term "C'est la vie," reminds us that life, especially birth and motherhood, is full of unknowns.

Our goal isn't to eliminate those unknowns or uncertainties but to help you find deep peace within them, so that no matter what unfolds in your journey, you feel grounded and stable.

In birth, and in motherhood, there will always be unpredictability. But instead of fighting it, we can embrace it and build a peace that carries you through, no matter what. Our role is to help you cultivate that peace—to be present with you, holding space for reflection and calm so that you feel empowered in your body, mind, and spirit.
We use a holistic approach that blends physical preparation, mental support, and emotional reassurance. Whether you need help preparing your body for birth, working through fears and hopes, or spiritual guidance, we meet you where you are, helping you anchor into peace in every moment.
We also honour the sacredness of the spiritual journey that accompanies birth. For many of my clients, this is a deeply spiritual experience, and I’m here to support that, whether through prayer, worship music, or simply holding space for the unknown. We believe that God is Peace, and even when we face uncertainty, we can find stability in that promise.
